The Wolds Way travels across the rolling countryside taking in stunning scenery and wildlife, whilst the lesser known Centenary Way passes through the Howardian Hills and the Wolds via Castle Howard, making it a truly delightful walk with riverside sections and forests to trail through. For those with a dog, this is a really fantastic place to stay with such an abundance of walks and hikes right on your doorstep. The owners even provide facilities for the dogs to be washed down after a long day out rambling. The Yorkshire Wolds have been made famous by the artist David Hockney, who was inspired by the miles of rolling hills and beautiful scenery.
The cottages are situated on a working farm, with both livestock and arable crops. Perched on the hills above Flixton, they have sea views in the distance. At the front of the cottages you will see lots of wildlife – from hares boxing to the odd fox or deer crossing the fields. For birdwatchers, there are many species to spot, especially the owls hunting at dusk.’
